The ROK at 155kg might be a good choice for the light drivers on a twisty track. Corner speed and saving tyres will give it an edge. Of course the weights are subject to change. :D

Since all the rounds are at the same track it shouldn't take long to get the weights around the right area. And that's the only way a weight handicap truly works in my opinion (on only one track) because the weight handicap really is track dependent.

For Juniors I don't think the 3kg will do anything to take away the power advantage that KF3 has over ROK/Rotax?

YOKOHAMA DRY: AAX

What's this tyre like? Fairly soft?

Each competitor must put the required number of tires in Parc Ferme during scrutineering, and he will have the choice on how to use the number of tires allowed through the entire race meeting. No additional spare will be allowed

Cool, tyre strategy. Most likely best strategy will be to save the second set for the final only. Heats are only 12 laps, pre-final 18 and final is only 24 laps. I say "only" because it's on a fairly short track. What're the laptimes?

Sounds like an interesting series, would be nice to come see a round or two.

Agreed, and I felt there was sufficient time to have done so before the start of Nationals.

I remember reading the rules yesterday thinking "racing Rotax in the Formula 125 Open is like bringing a knife to a gun fight" - the KFs are about 1 sec faster a lap on the circuit.

At present, the only sanctioned track by SMSA is Kartright Speedway.

On driver eligibility,

ELIGIBLE DRIVERS
Drivers holding a National License issued by SMSA or International License issued by their ASNs, in compliance with Article 4.2 and 4.3 of Appendix B. Only licences issued by a country as defined by the FIA will be permitted to enter. For Baby and Mini ROK, Drivers should hold a national license issued by an affiliated ASN.

One thing I don't really get is why the 2-sets of tyres has been applied to the series. It seems that with the amount of laps being done 1 set should be easily able to handle the job.

From what I've heard the track is probably more suited to the kid categories? That should really be a focus, maybe even organise club races where it is only kids racing. You can have a full race meeting in a few hours rather than 2 days. You don't need a full-blown professional organisation for a club event. Flag marshals are the parents/mechanics, and you're good to go.

Where I started racing the smaller tracks were limited to 85cc karts (MiniMax/ROK Mini power levels roughly), even for all practice days (take a Yamaha on track and lose your racing license). We had monthly races where only 85cc and 60cc (Rotax MicroMax/BabyRok) karts were racing. The races were done mid-week in the afternoon and over within a few hours.

After a Meeting with SMSA on Firday it was agreed that Cadets will be able to race with their Rotax MicroMax Engines in the Nescafe Singapore Karting Championship.

I think the lack of a micromax class initially was because the SMSA followed AKOC regulations which does not race micromax. I think they only race minirok which is a faster engine than micromax if I'm not wrong.

Also, does anyone know where i can find the time schedule for the SKC as it does not seem to be on the SR.

The schedule will likely change depending on entries received. Large grids of 16+ will require qualification heats and 2nd chance races.
