The issue with Max Fewtrell's ignition system in my opinion was just an oversight on the Teams behalf which I know won't happen again!

I'm not not sure whether it gave him any Technical advantage during the Heats and I'm looking forward to watching the next round when everyone will have their Karts scrutineered prior to Race Time.

The role of the Scrutineer is to make sure everyone's Kart falls within the regulations stated by the SMSA and a fair race ensues.

I don't think it is neccesary to make derogatory comments on a Forum about any Team Members and all the talking should be done on the Track.

Good luck to all competitors for the next round of the Championship and i'm sure the Teams will have resolved this early miscommunication in a friendly and professional manor and without the need to point any fingers. 8)

As for Alex Yoong I think everbody should remember that the guy actually drove in F1 which can only be a dream for any of us. To even get a seat in any of the Teams you have to be at such a high level of fitness accompanied with skill just to get the Car around the Track!! let alone be competitive.

So give the guy the respect he deserves as you don't often get this type of knowledge freely available.

I had some overseas inquiries about participating in the race and relooked at Technical Supplement.

Info from doc is as follows:

-------------

10. ELIGIBLE DRIVERS
Drivers holding a National License issued by SMSA or International License issued by their ASNs, in compliance with Article 4.2 and 4.3 of Appendix B. Only licences issued by a country as defined by the FIA will be permitted to enter. For Baby and Mini ROK, Drivers should hold a national license issued by an affiliated ASN.

-------------

I am interpreting it that they therefore allow foreign drivers provided their foreign ASNs permit? I could not find Appendix B. .... Will confirm with SMSA to find out actual status given that they copied a lot of AKOC regulations wholesale.

Appendix B is one of CIK-FIA regulation documents. Go to their website to find it under regulations. Basically it is talking about the B and C licenses and the fact that they did not include the article on A license (I can't remember what number the article is) tells us that A license is not allowed.

thanks Ace.

I spoke to SMSA regarding clarification on the status of foreign resident drivers.

For this year, and till further informed, the nationals will be limited to Singapore residents (Singaporean and foreign) although SMSA retains the option to allow foreign residents to partake at a later date.

Well, I think it is quite nice to have people like ace in our karting world. I was slow but it is really not difficult for me to qualify against KF engine with my rota engine. I really enjoy the race nevertheless.
I believe that there is still much to learn for us in Singapore on kart racing, but this track and championship has open up real opportunity for the sports in Singapore. RMC is a great race and has given our drivers great experience. It is great to see two Singaporean in the top two position in the current standing, but this is also due to the opportunity and experience from our Malaysia counter part. I believe that SMSA will open the championship to competitors from all over the world next year. It will be again another baby step for the future of the sport. I think that Rotax is an amazing engine to encourage kart racing. It is economical and need decent amount of skill to drive well in. I believe that race rules should be kept simple to encourage more people to race, i don't believe in making the sports too expensive for anyone who want the opportunity to race.
I am already spending too much time in karting, didn't want to spend time writing too much. See you guys in SKC, RMC or AKOC soon............

Corner speed and saving tyres will give it an edge. Of course the weights are subject to change. If so would interested and what track will be used? That should really be a focus, maybe even organise club races where it is only kids racing. You can have a full race meeting in a few hours rather than 2 days. You don't need a full-blown professional organisation for a club event.
