Assuming you have a kart, engine, license, all the driver equipment and someone to help you run the kart, all you need to do is enter. You can get a copy of the Regulations and entry form by emailing Jaja from Comma Motorsports at fiza5196@yahoo.com or PM me with your email address.

1st round is at Sepang on 28th April

Will the winner of the SL Cup be given all thier prizes as in the SR or will it be same as last year, where the owner of the series did not fulfilled his promises. The winner are supposed to be send to Japan for the SL Cup final but after winning the series, he was told that he cannot go because he did not use the Birel kart, when in the first place, the owner of the series did not specify that in order to qualify he need to use a Birel kart.

Hopefully the promoter will not pull the same con game this year after completing the series.

BTW for this year, will the winners be going to Japan and if so, what are the terms and conditions as it is not in the SR?

The prizes are as stated in the SRs. AS the SL Cup Malaysia series still allows open chassis, there is no trip to Japan on offer. However, the top 3 cadets and top 3 juniors will get a subsidised place in an Asian final event, to be held in Malaysia late in the year.

Keep practicing - you'll be fine. Come watch round 2 of the SL Cup on 11th April at Elite. The races yesterday at Sepang were awesome.

Bit of a report and photos up HERE. Also more photos on the KartingAsia.com Facebook Fan Page.

Good luck to everyone at the next round. No coverage from me though because I'll be racing the Rotax Asia Challenge in Indo!

Heard that the organiser was fined RM3000.00 by AAM for a poorly organised race and also not following as per inscription to AAM. The organiser purposely delay the race by 1 hour to wait for 1 driver who was having training on formula BMW.

How can the organiser do not follow their own program and delay the race just because the driver is somebody who is related to the organiser. What an unprofessional way of doing thing.

I have a question about the Yamaha SL Cup, Why are engines NOT sealed for this event.

In what way was it poorly organised? From my viewpoint, I thought it was rather ok. I mean there was no major delays because of poor organisation unlike the recent RMC where practice was delayed because an ambulance apparently did not come (<--poor organisation) and the cadets had to sit in the hot sun waiting for quite a while. From what I saw, the Senior qualifying started on time. The seniors were preparing as the Juniors finished and went out on time. I don't see whats the problem there?

First, you got to note that unlike Rotax engines, there is not much modifications that you can do to a Yamaha to give it significant power boost. For Rotax engines, the existance of blue print engines in the market is so much that sealed engines are required. From what I realise in RMC, one could easily cheat too. Since the scrutineers DON'T check the engines when they seal it as they should by right, a driver could use an illegal engine up til pre final, using standard carbs, airbox and exhaust etc for an easier race. Then in the final he could use a legal engine for the final to be checked since they don't check the spare engine.

Maybe you are angry about this as, if i'm not mistaken, your son Khairul did quite badly in the race and I could think that it is because of a bad engine. Check your sources where you got the engine, they could have easily given you a crappy engine that they are ready to dispose. If you bought it new, then I'm very sorry for you. But even though they don't seal the engine, they still check it thoroughly at the end if you are in a significant position. In cadets, a driver was disqualified after qualifying for illegal engine. In juniors, a driver was disqualified in the final also for illegal engine. So what are you complaining about?
