Hate to disappoint you. No P10 engines for at least until 2011. The present cylinder has performed very well and it will take sometime before they will change the mould. Since there have been no complaints on the cylinder, it is not likely BRP will replace the cylinder until the life cycle runs out.

New improved clutches are now being used for the 2010 engines and should be on production engines by April. Improvements to the engine is being undertaken all the time. For news on the improvement you can check out on our web site.

Yeah jon so there will be engines stamped with "10" on them but that is simply because they have been manufactured in 2010. Other than that they are as identical as possible to '09 engines.

A 2009 engine can be kept exactly the same as any new engines just by updating things such as the clutch that James mentioned.

The only changes this year have been the clutch and a new exhaust to minimize cracks.

This is for general information to all. On the cylinder you will note that there is a numeral 9 or for older engines can be 0 or 1 etc. This denotes the mould being used. It has no significance on the year of the engine. Rotax started with 0 code and now runs to 9. This mould was used since 2009 and will continue to 2010 until such time as a replacement mould is needed. The mould has a manufacturing life span. After a certain number of cylinders have been made, the mould is scrapped as the variances will show due to wear and tear. When a new cylinder is introduced you will find the tolerances will be very little but once the mould has run its course, you will find that the tolerances are wider. Once it reaches out of spec, the mould is scrapped.

It does not meant that 2010 you will have a code 10 cylinder. This number HAS NO VALUE. Please do not be taken that if someone has a 10 cylinder he has the faster engine. Rotax will continue to develop better components to last and this can be seen in the new clutches being introduced. The exhaust has also been replaced with the newer version to prevent cracking.

We will inform you all new items coming out through our web page and also through the KRS News. If you are not on the mailing list please drop me a line and I will include your name in. Please send to sales@kartmoreracing.com
