World Finals Egypt 2009

Postby DMmotorsport » Mon Dec 14, 2009 7:32 pm

Hi Everyone!

Not so much to say about the finals, i think the full Malaysian team
did a good job. I said, and say it again. This generation of Asian drivers
is pretty good! a solid basic.

To be honest, the thing to find out is a little bit more of chassis setup.
BUT in General, the chance of winning the DD2, was pretty big,
the same for Junior. Mikko, i'm sorry but could not follow the Senior class, as than was
always just before we had to enter parc fermee !

Anyway, for me and Fei Hoong, we had hoped in a better result, and it was possible.
but if you run in to 4th position and a frustrated team pushed you, than there is nothing you can do. The same for Nabil.

I also think, you see than the drivers evolved, and i think for 2010 al of this drivers can be
pretty sure they are on the right level. And with a litle bit of work, i think we can go for a good result again.

The thing is: a lot of counties have 1 drivers going in to win, and have 3 to 4 drivers entered just driving around to push each other of the track. I think we 'speaking than for the Malaysian team' we should try to get more entries, to get a solution for this.

Anyway, Hope you all get home safely !
Ciao!

To put the performance of the team into context, the podium places in the Nations Cup (for the best 3 drivers from each country - one from each category) into context, Malaysia only finished 9 points behind New Zealand, who were 3rd. If Mikko hadn't dropped out of the final, it's entirely possible Malaysia would have been on the podium - that would have really been an achievement!

The whole team - drivers and mechanics - did extremely well and proven themselves the equal of most of the other teams. What we lack is the close competition that other get on a very regular basis. Even Nabil (who showed he can race as well as anybody that there - and considerably better than most) probably suffered a little bit from out being able to drag the last .1 of a sec out of the kart in qualifying. If he had, then he's have qualify 10th and could have been world champion now with the way he raced....

Hi, Jack's mum here. This might not be the correct place to post this but I will go ahead anyway.
I had a fantastic time in Egypt. I was a bit nervous especially with some of the very negative comments about Jack being there in the first place but I think he did a good job for Singapore and we, as supporters, did an even better job. I want to thank everyone who travelled to Egypt with us for making us feel part of a team. I got to meet 'racing mums' and I really enjoyed that, so mum's if you read this, I look forward to seeing you in March. For me, the week turned me into a real Karting fan, I love the action but I still can't watch if Jack is on the track!
Thanks to all of you that made my time in Egypt a very enjoyable one.

No it was the dutch guy i was overtaking when my chain flew off. Blame the dutch!

Lesley Jack did great, I think he often had better pace than i did, although that's not saying much ;).

Congratulations to Nabil for a great weekend, right on the pace of the top Juniors. :!: We didn't expect any less. :albino:

Thanks John for posting updates on the forums, I was without Internet all week.

I'll try to get snapshots from Egypt posted tomorrow.

My email address is pretty well know so I'm always happy to answer questions or accept criticism if I offend anyone- although my spam filter is set pretty aggressively so I can't guarantee that notes from illiterate morons will reach my inbox.

I've uploaded some pictures to Flickr:
