Miko, pls tell us more on the Unipro Power Valve sensor thingy. a feature i dont see on other brands i think.

I only used it on one day (can't use it in competition in Rotax)- I'll write a bit on power valves and the sensor in about a month... after the KB event ;).

I've been writing an article comparing the main data logging systems available for karting (will be published on the main site by Monday I hope).. and in the process Unipro has been really responsive by answering all my questions... and they also sent me an Alpha-version of their new software to have a look around at.

All Unipro users are in for a real treat when the new software is launched (completely new, not just a small rework of the current version) - and at least one or 2 new types of sensors along with it. The improvement in the software looks like it will be nothing short of amazing. :D

Mikko,

You wrote a good article on Data Logging and gives a excellent review of the systems available on the market.....sure it sounds you are promoting UniPro but if their response was that good - WHY NOT?

Cheers.

.

Thanks for the comments on the article :).

If you would've read the first draft of the article it would've sounded like I was promoting MyChron - you can read as much from my previous comments in this thread saying how much I like their software for example.

After Claus' speedy responses I've emailed back-and-forth with him serveral times again + because the new software looks very good, Unipro started looking much better to me again.

Claus was on a holiday when he first responded to my emails - and he apologized for the "slow" replies. Still haven't heard anything from any of the other three.

I had to re-write a lot of the article afterwards. There were comments like MyChron is easily better in this area than all the others - but I had to change them because Unipro pulled themselves back up there or thereabouts. There are still areas where I prefer the Aim software - but it's more and more down to personal preference rather than actual usability being better.

When I heard Alfano had released a new version of their software a while back I was very hopeful - but it's still lacking in many respects. A few years back their software was so bad an independent karter/programmer made a separate software to analyze alfano files which was a lot better!

Looks like they're another one in need of a software update (that version from 2002) ;)... not hopeless but pretty annoying to use in some respects.

Yeah I asked Pi some questions that would've added to the article but got no response. Their software has had no updates for a few years now - seems like they've dropped development on their "cheap" softare and only concentrate on the even more expensive software.

One question... Lambda Sensor and exhaust gas temp sensor, izzit the same device. I just tough lambda sensor is quite important to get a good setting of fuel & air mixture.

Personally, i have a mychron 4 and it tells me everything i need to know. It's pretty easy to navigate everything in it, in my area mychron 4's dominate the software usage. I feel that they dominate for a reason. 8)
