15 year old Australian driver Mitchell Gilbert (Energy/TM/Vega) will compete in his first British event this weekend in the fourth round of the TVKC Club Championship at the PF International Kart Circuit on Sunday 4 April.
Over 120 drivers will compete during the weekend in a three heat – one final format. Mitchell will go head to head with scores of British drivers who have spent their racing careers competing at the Lincolnshire based circuit.
Due to high levels of interest in the event from International drivers, PF International has been granted special dispensation to run the KF2 and KF3 classes to CIK regulations this weekend, providing Mitchell with valuable testing time before the CIK-FIA European KF2 Championship Western Region Qualifications taking place from 29 April – 2 May.
Mitchell Gilbert, JRP Racing Team driver, said:
“I am looking forward to competing in the TVKC Club Championship this weekend as it will be my first time racing in the UK. I need as much running at the circuit as possible before the European Championship Qualifier later this month as a vast majority of the British drivers entered will have spent their lives competing at PFi. My aim for the weekend is to hopefully finish within the top three, though a top five finish will boost my confidence before the qualifiers.”
Mitchell joined multiple championship winning factory JRP Racing Team at the start of 2010, putting the young Australian driver in good stead for great results this year and whilst preparing him for the biggest step of his career up to single-seater racing in 2011. Mitchell has already displayed outstanding drive and determination, recently finishing on the podium in the 21st Andrea Margutti Trophy.
