Press Release

Singapore, 19 May 2010 – At the second round of the inaugural Nescafe
Singapore Karting Championship 2010, locally-owned Drakar Racing Team proved its
dominance once again as it claimed eight out of 18 possible podium spots. Across
five of six award categories in the national Championship, Drakar Racing had at least
one driver within the top three of each category, affirming its excellence in kart
racing.
Last month at the opening round of the Championship, Drakar Racing had four
podium spots across five categories, topping the Cadet and Senior category.
Doubling the number of podium spots this round, the Drakar Racing drivers show
that age is not an issue in racing. Here are the results of the Drakar Racing drivers:

Having just completed mid-year examinations in school, Jon Lee, 11, Glenn Chiam,
11, and Amin Noorzilan, 13, were eager to chase for the chequered flag first. Said
Glenn the primary five student, “I achieved my personal best lap time this round and
was able to maintain my position in third place. My next race will be the next round
of the Rotax Max Challenge Malaysia series together with team-mate Jon Lee and I
hope we will be on the podium there too.”
Secondary one student Amin improved his position to second from third in the Junior
category. He said, “I am very happy to have come in second this time. It is an
improvement from the last race where I finished third. I had a new CRG kart and
IAME engine, which I am still learning; hence I believe I can give first place winner
Anderson Martono a stronger fight the next round.”
Winners of the Masters category were ranked according to the KF engine or the
Rotax Max engine. Team owner and founder Jonathan Tay who finished third for the
Masters (Rotax Max) category comments, “I think the team’s Junior driver Sean
Hudspeth, Senior driver Opai and Masters drivers Darren Ooi and Sam Tan had really
tough races and they did well to come in within the top five of their category.”
“This will be the last race for me as I will focus all of my energies to training and
managing the team instead. I believe that my co-director Raymond Low will continue
to achieve great results in leading the team as they race the rest of the season.”
Round 3 of the Nescafe Singapore Karting Championship 2010 will take place on July
17 – 18 at Kartright Speedway.
