AKOC Championship Leader Pull Tackles Thailand

James PullSingapore, 4 November 2010 – Fresh from coming in overall second for the Yamaha SL Cup Malaysia Series, James Pull heads to Thailand this weekend for Round 4 of the Asian Open Karting Championship (AKOC). The 11-year-old Singapore-based kart racer is currently leading the Mini ROK category of the AKOC series with one more round in Macau after this.

At the last round in Jakarta, Indonesia, Pull set the third fastest qualifying time in the second time trial and qualified sixth overall amongst the 18 cadet karters, but was too ill to participate in the heats. Due to his no-show for all three rounds of heats, he had to start the pre-final at the back. From 16th place he fought hard to finish fourth, earning a fourth place start in the final. He finished the final third and this was sufficient to give him the championship lead.

“It is almost the end of the season and I’ve gained many learning experiences both on and off the track. This weekend will be my first time racing in Thailand and I will do my best to maintain my championship lead,” said Pull.

This year, Pull has competed in the full season of Yamaha SL Cup and Asian Karting Open Championship as well as made guest appearances at Rotax Max Challenge (RMC) Malaysia Championship and the inaugural Singapore National Karting Championship.

He also headed to Italy at the end of summer for as part of his development programme and gained tremendous exposure through participation at a World Series Karting (WSK) Master Series race.
