Fore Takes the World Cup!

Maranello driver Davide Fore grabbed victory at the CIK-FIA World Cup for KF1 held in Suzuka, Japan last weekend. While only 18 drivers were in attendance the grid didn’t lack any quality as Birel, TonyKart, Kosmic, FA Kart, Zanardi, Wright, and of course Maranello were all there with a factory presence.

Cesetti, Parrot, Stevens, and Fore started the final at the front with Parrot taking the early lead. Gary Catt was forced to start in 9th thanks to a 10 second penalty in the pre-final. Catt made it all the way to 1st but was then overtaken by a slew of drivers and dropped back to 4th in the final standings ahead of teammate Marco Ardigo.

Fore kept control at the front although he was closely followed by Birel driver Libor Toman who finished just 2 tenths behind. Toman was followed to the line a second further back by Sauro Cesetti to make it a Birel 2-3. Interestinly the top 3 positions were all occupied by different engine manufactuers with Fore on a Maxter, Toman an Parilla, and Cesetti on TM.

In the KF2 categor the grid was full for the final thanks to a very large Japanese participation. The competition for the lead wasn’t there however as Birel driver Jack Harvey took the win by a massive 11 seconds margin from teammate Giacomo Patrono. Maranello driver Nero Giaguaro rounded up the top three.

Tanart Sathienthirakul from Thailand made an impressive showing in KF2 finishing in 9th place on his Gillar-Parilla-Bridgestone combo.
