Maranello have come out with a very radical new design for 2009, the RS8. It features a centrally located rear brake system and 3rd bearing with a floating disc, floating caliper, and floating bearing. The entire frame design is also different to anything else currently on the market. The tubing has a symmetrical design, no rear torsion bar (one fixed tube across the back), and a very interesting front end.

Greetings from Italy!
Most drivers have completed their registration at the 2008 Rotax Max Grand Finals at the La Conca International Karting Circuit! Tomorrow the drivers and mechanics will get their hands on their karts and start setting up for the first on-track action on Wednesday.
Some points of interest for the drivers at the grand finals are the new clutches fitted to all the karts and the colder than expected weather (as low as 2 degrees celcius). Check out the first pictures here, and follow the discussions in the forums here.

The 2nd Round of the KKS-AAM Malaysian Karting Championship was held last weekend at the Sepang International Karting Circuit. The Senior category saw heartbreak for Imran Zaharias as he led from Mitchell Gilbert but had his engine fail with 4 laps to go leaving Gilbert to take the win. Ray Kong finished in 2nd with Afiq in 3rd.
In the Juniors Ryan Ritchie was in a league of his own pulling away from the start after a small coming together with his main rival Muhammad Hasif. Hasif dropped down the field but made his way back up to challenge Silvano Christian for 2nd place, with Silvano eventually able to fend off Hasif after a few lead changes.
Check out pictures of the event taken by Mikko Nassi here.

For 2009 Singapore intends to put together at least 15 drivers to take part in the Rotax Max Challenge Malaysia series in order to open up a seat for Singapore in the Rotax Max Grand Finals! If that is a success and depending on the tracks and the growth of Karting in Singapore there might be a dedicated Rotax Max Challenge Singapore in the near future!
