Maranello RS8 – set to change the look of the modern kart?

KartingAsia.com

Maranello have come out with a very radical new design for 2009, the RS8. It features a centrally located rear brake system and 3rd bearing with a floating disc, floating caliper, and floating bearing. The entire frame design is also different to anything else currently on the market. The tubing has a symmetrical design, no rear torsion bar (one fixed tube across the back), and a very interesting front end. View the pictures here, and discuss the kart in the forums here.

Mitchell Gilbert The 2nd Round of the KKS-AAM Malaysian Karting Championship was held last weekend at the Sepang International Karting Circuit. The Senior category saw heartbreak for Imran Zaharias as he led from Mitchell Gilbert but had his engine fail with 4 laps to go leaving Gilbert to take the win. Ray Kong finished in 2nd with Afiq in 3rd. In the Juniors Ryan Ritchie was in a league of his own pulling away from the start after a small coming together with his main rival Muhammad Hasif. Hasif dropped down the field but made his way back up to challenge Silvano Christian for 2nd place, with Silvano eventually able to fend off Hasif after a few lead changes. Check out pictures of the event taken by Mikko Nassi here.
