Stockinger 8th in World Finals

Sixteen year old Karting Ace Marlon Stockinger made history in Philippine
Motorsport last weekend in Al Ain, Dubai, by finnishing in 8th position in
the Rotax Max Senior category at the World Finals in Al Ain, UAE, near Dubai.

Stockinger is the first Filipino racer to achieve a ranking in the World’s
top ten in an international karting series and is the number one Asian
driver in the Senior category in 2007.

216 of the best drivers from 55 countries and all 5 continents gathered to
crown the best amongst them.

Conditions during the whole weekend were quite tricky since strong winds
blowing from the desert brought a lot of sand onto the track making it quite
slippery outside the raceline.

“Unfortunately we had some problems with our engine during qualifying”, says
Marlon. “I was as fast as the front runners in the final and with a better
qualifying I could have battled for a podium. I am very happy with the
result and am looking forward to some challenging competition next year in
karting and maybe formula cars. I would like to thank my coaches Terry
Fullerton and Othmar Stutz for supporting me the whole weekend as well as my
‘crack’ mechanic Alan Mackay. They all did a great job, although Othmar fell
short of preparing my favourite tomato soup!”
